Where Would You Be?

(Titus 3:5-6) “Twas not for deeds that we had done, but by his steadfast love alone, he saved us through a second birth, renewed us by the Spirit’s work, and poured him out upon us, too, through Jesus the Messiah our Savior true.”

(John 15:16) “You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you. I have appointed you to go and produce fruit that will last, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, He will give it to you.”

Did you know that every good thing in you is not your own doing? That the fact that right now you are part of this devotional is because God has ordained it? Even the amount of faith or initial desire for God is what Jesus has put inside of you. So don’t ever think that you are a good person on your own merit and that God is lucky to have you obey Him.

The beauty of the Christian faith is that it makes us powerless in front of an All Powerful God, it keeps us humble before an All Knowing God, and it brings out our darkest secrets before an All Loving God. No matter which way you turn, eventually you have to face the fact that He exists and that we will have to give account of our deeds.

God owes you nothing as there is nothing you can do that He can´t do without you, but He chooses to open your spiritual eyes and use you to bring others to the knowledge of Jesus. If it were not so, we would still be living in our own darkness, thinking we are good compared to others, that God has no choice but to let us into heaven, and taking credit for all we have achieved in life.

But because of His mercy upon us, He shows us how wrong we are by exposing us to His light through His Word. Let us today realize that without Him we are completely lost. Under the light of His Word a “white lie” becomes “bearing false witness”, “lust” becomes “adultery at heart”, and “Hatred” becomes “Murder”.

Where would you be today if God had not opened your spiritual understanding? You would still believe that you are good, and deserving heaven because of your good works.

• Heavenly Father, My times are in Your hands. In the time of trouble, You shall hide me in Your pavilion in the secret place of Your tabernacle. You shall hide me in the secret place of Your presence from the plots on men.
• Thank you Jesus for having chosen us to be Your disciples and to see the truth.
• Forgive us for thinking that we have anything to do with our salvation. We do not deserve to be able to be in Your presence, but we thank You again for choosing us.
• Let us today continue to humble ourselves before You and others by showing how thankful we are for Your love.
• Let our Spiritual knowledge and experience not become a stumbling block that will make us look down on others. We need Your heart Lord to see those that hurt around us the way You see them.
• Just as we have received love and acceptance from You freely, let us share it with those that we know.
• Thank you for changing us today to be more like your son Jesus Christ.

• We ask these things in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen
