Achieve Beyond Expected

(1 Chronicles 4:10) “Later on, Jabez called on the God of Israel, asking him, ‘…whether you would bless me again and again, enlarge my territory, keep your power with me, keep me from evil, and keep me from harm!’ And God granted what he had requested.”

(Psalms 139:14) “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

(1 Corinthians 2:9-10) “But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him. But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”

No matter what anyone says about you or no matter how little they expect you to achieve in life, God has the last word. Parents, teachers, tutors, and even Pastors can fall into the trap of putting a label on someone and thus hindering that person’s progress in life. Names given by parents are very important as they give us a clue of what parents expect from you, or what circumstances brought you to existence.

However, sometimes these names can be very negative and contrary to what God has purposed for you before you were even formed in your mother’s womb.

I have heard some of the names given here in Spain and they are at times quite disturbing. Names that represent idols of Mary like Mary of many sorrows, of much pain, anguish…etc. We have actually had some women change their names once they received Christ as their savior because what God speaks over His children is Joy, Peace, and Life in Abundance. We need to tune in to what God wants to show us and what He has spoken in the Bible about those that choose to follow Jesus. Don’t limit yourself to what others think or say about you, as God can do the impossible for you if you just obey Him and surrender to His plans.

You too need to pray like Jabez did and ask God beyond your measures and beyond your imagination. Do not limit yourself to the borders others have created around you. Only God can decree what you can or cannot do, what you can or cannot get in life, or what you can or cannot change through the power of the Holy Spirit.

(“The name Jabez means, ‘a source of misery’. But it was a label he refused to wear and a prophesy he refused to fulfill – and you should too. Just because someone calls you ‘illegitimate’ doesn’t make it so. God says you were in His mind before you were in your mother’s womb. Jabez refused to allow his beginnings to dictate his end. It’s time for you to break out; become a ‘boundary-crosser.’”- Bob Gass)

• Heavenly Father, You are He who says “I am with the last”, The Lord who is and who was, The Lord Who says “I am who I am.”
• We thank you for having thought about us even before we were formed in our mother’s womb. We are fearfully and wonderfully made by Your will and desire.
• Give us today our true identity according to Your words and Your plans for our lives.
• We reject and cancel in the name of Jesus any negative names given to us, any limiting insults spoken to us, and any faithless council given to us.
• We receive from You, Jesus, the abundant life You have promised to us in the Bible.
• We ask that we will pray according to the revelation of the Holy Spirit for the needs in our lives, and no longer according to what we see with our physical eyes.
• That we will pray according to Your majesty and power and not limit ourselves to our limited imagination of the supernatural.
• Allow us to dare to pray like Jabez and go beyond the borders everyone has put around us.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
