Ask Before Taking A Step

(1 John 3:21-22) “Dear friends, if we feel at ease in the presence of God, we will have the courage to come near him. He will give us whatever we ask, because we obey him and do what pleases him.”

(Proverbs 16:9) “A person plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.”

(Psalms 2:2-4) “The kings of this earth have all joined together to turn against the LORD and his chosen one. They say, ‘Let’s cut the ropes and set ourselves free!’ In heaven the LORD laughs as he sits on his throne, making fun of the nations.”

The greatest gift on earth for keeping God’s commandments is that we can ask and receive. This is His promise. It’s of course talking about asking for His will, His direction, and His council regarding a decision, not simply asking for prosperity, health, and long life, as this also is promised to those that keep His commandments. It makes sense to ask God before we take any step in life as He is the only one that knows what will happen in the next second in our lives.

Men walk around making plans all day. From the largest to the smallest groups we are constantly organizing summits and congress meetings where decisions are made for the future of a church, community, nation, or even the whole world. We actually play at being gods ourselves thinking we have the power to do anything at all. Nothing will ever happen if God does not establish that as part of His will for us.

Even those that plan evil for us, the followers of Christ, both in the natural and the spiritual can only go as far as God allows it. We just read that God actually sits and laughs while rulers plan to deny His commandments and stop the Christians from teaching God’s laws.

The pandemic, worldwide economic recession, wars, injustice, and any other evil plans of man will all stop the moment God says ‘enough is enough’. That is why, no matter what is happening around you, or what experts advice you to do, God is the only one that will give you the correct council. This is why it is so important to continually obey His commandments and be comfortable in His presence knowing you have nothing to hide.

No matter who you are, God knows how to get you back on track for your own good. Jonah needed to spend 3 days in the belly of a large fish in order to stop running from God. Paul was allowed to be continually attacked by the devil in order to keep him from getting conceited. The prodigal son had to lose everything he had and be completely abandoned by everyone in order to return to his father’s house.

If you are feeling right now that no one is coming to your aid this time, it’s probably because God won’t let them. This is His way of bringing something to your attention that needs to be changed.

• Heavenly Father, Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. The children of men take refuge under the shadow of Your wings.
• Thank You, Father, that no matter what we plan, You always do as You will.
• Thank You for keeping all the plans of the devil under Your control.
• Thank You that nations and leaders are powerless in front of You.
• Forgive us for coming to you only for material things and for our selfish desires.
• Give us the wisdom to ask for Your will in every area of our lives.
• We need Your help to keep Your commandments and be comfortable in Your presence.
• We declare that we will ask and receive all we need because we do those things that are pleasing to You.
• We surrender right now all our plans and we ask You to direct our steps.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen
