Audited by God

(1 Corinthians 3:12-15) “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”

(Hebrews 12:6) “For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he punishes every son he accepts.”

(2 Corinthians 5:10) “For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of the Messiah, so that each of us may receive what he deserves for what he has done in his body, whether good or worthless.”

Nothing we do or say is forgotten or in vain. Everyone will face the Creator one day and all things will be brought to light. All actions and decisions will be weighed under God´s law. Even standing still or quiet can either be counted for God or against Him, there is no middle ground. We can either be part of the solution or continue to be part of the problem.  We all fear being audited by the income tax as we all have something to hide. Imagine being audited by God, who sees all you do and say behind closed doors.

The verse in 1 Corinthians is talking to Christians. So all our talents, words, time, financial investments, and thoughts are constantly building towards something. Either you are building with wood, hay, and stubble or with gold, silver, and precious stones. It all depends on where our heart is when we build and what kind of foundation we are building upon.

Was it in anger, resentment, and selfish motives, or was it with faith, hope, and love?  Did we build upon the purposes of the world or upon Christ as our salvation? Sometimes we forget that making it to heaven is not the end of our existence, but that there is much more to be done and enjoyed there.  Otherwise, why would God mention a system of rewards and losses for those that are saved?  We also cannot ignore that we will reign alongside Christ for 1000 years back on earth

Those that have accepted Christ will be judged not for their sins, as Christ has already paid for them on the cross, but for the rewards waiting for them in heaven. If you have put Christ first in all you do, then you have been building with things that will not be burned up but will be beneficial to you.

The ones that have not accepted Christ will also be judged, but not for rewards, but to receive God’s wrath as they still carry their sins that have not been washed away.

I sincerely hope you have made the choice to receive Christ into your heart and accept His sacrifice to wash away your sins before the Great Audit.

  • Heavenly Father, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and rising up.  You understand my thought a far off.
  • Thank You for correcting our ways and showing us Your tough love. Like a good loving Father, You have taught us to value the things that matter.
  • Forgive us for the sins we have committed in our bodies that are worthless and do not bring any benefit to our souls.
  • We thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross and wash away our sins. Thank You that we will not be judged for our sins anymore and we only have to look forward to an eternity in your presence.
  • We ask that You teach us how to continue to build with gold, silver, and precious stones upon the foundation that is Christ.
  • We reject right now all the actions, thoughts, and words that represent wood, hay, and stubble in Your light.
  • We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
