Bury it, Move On

(2 Corinthians 10:4-5) “For the weapons of our warfare are not those of the world. Instead, they have the power of God to demolish fortresses. We tear down arguments and every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive in order to obey the Messiah.”

(Deuteronomy 8:2) “Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way these 40 years in the desert, to humble and test you in order to make known what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

Any thought that does not align with God’s Word is directly working against you. The battle is not out there, against your boss, your spouse, your competitors, or even your enemies. The battle is fought and won first in your mind and heart. The mind controls your decisions and the heart controls your desires and emotions. This is where the devil can completely destroy you before you even stand up to fight. The best weapon he has is the pain from your past mistakes and the thought that Christ is not pleased with you.

As Disciples of Christ, we are given the spiritual authority to bring into captivity every negative thought against us, yes, even what YOU think about yourself. We are our worst criticizers at times as we get stuck with our past failures and don’t have the faith to try again. Once again, we need to bring those negative thoughts captive and under submission to the truth in Christ.

Un-forgiveness, both from yourself and towards others is one of the enemy’s best weapons. The issue is not WHETHER you remember the pain others caused you or that mistake you made, but HOW you remember it. If you feel condemned and not worthy to do anything at all, then that is Satan talking to you, and it is once again contrary to God’s Word.

Be careful who your friends are, as maybe you are only their friend because of your low self-esteem. If they are barely walking correctly before God, how can they help you? Christ can only take the seat in your heart when you are willing to let go of anything and everything He asks you to do.

If you are having a hard time moving forward with God’s plan in your life, then look around and see what or who is holding you back. Sometimes the things we are holding on to the hardest can be the very reason why we do not mature spiritually or emotionally.

The 40 years the people of God spent wandering in the desert was not to put God into their systems, but rather to take slavery and Egypt out of their minds, traditions, and desires.

• Heavenly Father, You have loved me with an everlasting love, therefore with loving kindness You have drawn me. Though I have not known You, You have named me.
• Thank You, Father, that Your Word is truth and powerful to bring down any of the lies of the enemy.
• Thank You that, we are forgiven every time we repent and that our past is washed away.
• Forgive us for dwelling on the past mistakes and not believing that You have truly forgiven us.
• We ask that You teach us how to make Christ the one that sits on the throne within our hearts.
• We need your help to forgive ourselves for our foolish mistakes and those that have hurt us.
• We take now into captivity every thought in our mind that is contrary to Your Word.
• Teach us how to let go once more of those thoughts, desires, and relationships that stop us from moving forward in your perfect plan for us.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
