Don’t Spread The Garbage

(Revelation 12:10) “Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say, ‘Now the salvation, the power, the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah have come. For the one who accuses our brothers, who accuses them day and night in the presence of our God, has been thrown out.’”

(1 John 2:1) “My little children, I’m writing these things to you so that you might not sin. Yet if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus, the Messiah, one who is righteous.”

(Proverbs 11:12-13) “Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but the discerning man controls his comments. Whoever spreads gossip betrays secrets, but the trustworthy person keeps a confidence.”

Everyone has something to hide, and everyone does things that might not be pleasing to God. You are probably someone who has sinned in the past, made mistakes, has a nasty habit, or may know someone with all these character flaws. This is the garbage we all have to hide from each other. You have two choices, either help them clean up the garbage and change their lives around, or spread that garbage and make life difficult for them. Bear in mind that the way you treat others is probably what you will also get in return.

When you accuse believers of their mistakes, especially in public, and condemn them, you are working for the devil, the accuser of the brethren. I have seen this happen over and over again on social media. However, when your love forgives them, prays for them, and supports them no matter what everyone says, you do what Jesus does by covering our sins with His love.

If you see garbage, pick it up, put it in a bag and throw it in the container, don’t let it sit there or spread it around. Pick up after yourself, and pick up after others. In other words, rectify your own mistakes, and don’t gossip about what others might be doing wrong.

We have 3 dogs and we make sure that we always pick up after them when we take them out for their walks. Unfortunately, there are many who don’t have this habit of picking up after their dogs, and there is no worst feeling than seeing our streets full of such filth.

Christ stands before God as an advocate defending us, even though we have sinned knowingly. He does not point a finger at us or put us to shame in public, but He lets everyone know that we are loved and that we can change. This is the attitude we need to have with each other. Imagine what would happen if all of us started to defend each other and see the good in each other, even if there were areas in our lives that were not perfect.

Don’t be like a dog who tears open garbage bags and makes a mess. If you see my garbage, please pick it up and throw it away. I will do the same for you.

• Jesus, You are Christ the righteous advocate, Christ who strengthens me, Jesus of Nazareth.
• Thank You that no matter what we do, You stand defending us before our accusers and showing mercy for our weakness.
• Thank You that You never give up on us or condemn us for our mistakes.
• Forgive us for taking Your love for granted and for not understanding the great sacrifice You did for us on the cross.
• Help us to look at other brothers and sisters with the same compassion and love that you have shown us.
• Teach us how to conceal a secret and to help those that are struggling with a hidden sin by praying for them and being there whenever needed.
• Help us not to give ear to gossip and not to spread it as well.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
