Father Knows Best

(Proverbs 14:12) “There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

(Luke15:20-22) “So he got up and went to his father. While he was still far away, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, threw his arms around him, and kissed him affectionately. Then his son told him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and you. I don’t deserve to be called your son anymore.’ “

“But the father told his servants, ‘Hurry! Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.  Bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let’s eat and celebrate!’ ”

If God does not give you what you want when you want it, how do you react? Like a spoilt child throwing tantrums and saying you hate Him; or as a good child trusting that our Heavenly Father knows best and will always want what is good for you? The Prodigal son demanded his inheritance before it was time, and it turned out to be the worst thing that could have happened to him. With money in his pocket, he let go of his self-control and spent all his inheritance on all the desires and sins built up in his heart. If God knows your future, maybe there is a reason why you are still struggling financially.

One of the most popular songs, when I was a teenager, was sung by the famous Hollywood actor, Will Smith, called “Parents just don’t understand”. Have you heard that complaint before, or have you felt that way when you were growing up?

This is a common complaint if you don’t truly understand who God is, that He loves you more than you can ever imagine, and that He has sacrificed His own son for you to be set free from the power of sin and destruction you were under.

He is even wanting to forgive you right now because the Bible states that “while yet we were sinners, Christ went to the Cross.”

Maybe you are one of those that used to walk with Jesus but now have drifted because of what others have done through religion. Or maybe someone failed your expectations as a Christian. And most probably you have drifted so far away and for so long that returning to church is too embarrassing. Please understand that Jesus only goes out after the lost sheep, and you are not lost as you know the way home.

God does not hold grudges…. If you decide today to return to Him, no matter what you have done, you will start with a clean slate. There is no Karma to be afraid of.

Today your Creator is waiting for you to come home. Don’t put it off one more day!

• Father, thank you that your mercies are new every morning.
• We ask for Your forgiveness for having deviated from Your plan for our lives and we ask You to accept us once more into your kingdom.
• Forgive us for being selfish and acting like spoilt children that do not understand what is bad for us.
• Give us the maturity to accept Your will and realize that everything You do is right and every decision You make is just.
• Let us today start afresh and start to enjoy the true inheritance that is in knowing Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
• Thank You for accepting us, loving us, and protecting us by denying us those things that are harmful to us.
• We reject every thought that says that You will not accept us back because of our rebellion, and we accept the fact that right now there is rejoicing in the heavens because we want to return to You.

• We ask these things in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen
