(2 Corinthians 8:7) ā€œIndeed, the more your faith, speech, knowledge, enthusiasm, and love for us increase, the more we want you to be rich in this work of kindness.ā€

(1 Chronicles 29:14) ā€œBut who am I, and who are my people, that we make such voluntary offerings as these? For all things come from you, and from your own hand we are giving to you.ā€

(Psalms 35:27) ā€œLet them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: Yea, let them say continually, the Lord be magnified, Who hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.ā€

It is so easy to forget that God is the one that gives us all things and allows us to prosper. When we start to have wealth and financial security, we tend to give credit to ourselves for our hard work, our smart business choices, our ability to take risks, our ability to excel above others, and of course, our good luck. But we forget that behind our success there is a divine purpose that needs to extend beyond our personal existence and needs.

God gives us in order to supply the needs of others that might not have as much. We are used by God not only to pray for others, share the gospel, love unconditionally, and bring hope to their lives but also to bless them financially whenever possible. It’s not our money, but His.

Money is the one thing that Jesus describes as a rival Master of our hearts. He knows that the pursuit of money and the hoarding of wealth can stop us from obeying His commandments. By giving, we show that our heart’s desires are to please Him, and for others to praise Him because of it.

If you don’t grasp the true power and joy of wealth through God, you will never be satisfied with what you have. There will always be something else you wish you had purchased, another city or restaurant you wish you might have visited, or a bigger house, faster car…etc.

(ā€œDr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, ā€˜There are three conversations we must all have with God. The first conversation is of the heart, the second is of the mind, and the third is of the purse.’ Most of us find the third the most difficult. Until God has access to your money, He doesn’t have access to your heart. You don’t have a thing God didn’t give you first.

God delights in blessing you, so let no one put you under pressure concerning what He’s given you. And remember, giving proves you’ve conquered insecurity. If God is truly your source, you can stop worrying over the future. When you understand the law of sowing and reaping, you will become a ā€˜cheerful giver’. This is the same reason a farmer rejoices when his seed is in the ground – he’s anticipating his harvest.ā€ – Bob Gass)

Can you give up whatever, and I mean whatever God asks of you? If you can’t then you truly don’t believe God gave it to you in the first place.
