God’s Obsession

(Genesis 3:8) “And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.”

(Hebrews 11:6) “Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently search for him.”

(John 3:16) “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his unique Son so that everyone who believes in him might not be lost but have eternal life.”

Have you ever been so obsessed with someone that you were willing to give up everything in order to have a relationship with them? Maybe one of your favorite artists, movie stars, or football players, drives you to want to be like them and believe that anything is possible. Remember when you had your first heartbreak and you lived a period of obsession for that person, wishing they would take you back? What would you have given up in order for them to do that?

Well, God is so obsessed with us that He did the ultimate sacrifice by sending Jesus to die on the Cross and pay for our sins. He did this so that we could once again be reconciled back to Him. It’s not that He needs us or can’t live without us, but it hurts Him when His creation disobeys and destroy themselves.

God’s obsession is not only that you have a relationship with Him as Adam had in the Garden of Eden before the Fall, but that you completely depend on Him for everything, and believe all He says He can and will do for you. Only when you start believing God and His Word without any doubt in your heart, will you start to see the miracles you read about in the Bible.

Even if you made a mistake, and disobeyed Him, He still comes looking for you to let you know that He loves you and that He has the power to change all things to our benefit. Don’t hide your sin and yourself as Adam and Eve did from His presence, as He knows all things and sees all things.

He wants you to approach Him when you have a need; he wants to be trusted! What parent doesn’t? When you ask, you acknowledge His wisdom – and you also acknowledge your total dependence on Him. He likes that! If your vision doesn’t require God, it’s not of God! If God gets involved in your dream, He becomes the only means to achieve it.

It’s up to you if you want to get right with God. However, His love and obsession for you will not make Him ignore His laws.

Prayers

• Heavenly Father, You are My refuge, My shield, My fortress.
• We thank You for loving us with such passion that you gave the ultimate sacrifice to cleanse us from our sins.
• Thank You that You made a way for us to be reconciled back to You.
• Teach us how to enjoy a personal relationship with You and to see You as a loving father.
• Forgive us, Lord for trying to ignore or hide our sins from You.
• Forgive us, for not understanding the amazing love you have already shown us.
• Give us the boldness to stand before You, just as we are, and receive your forgiveness and love.
• We declare that we will receive life eternal because we have accepted Jesus in our hearts.
• We believe that You exist and that You will reward us because we have diligently sought You.
