Let Nothing Stop You

(Hebrews 12:1-2) “Therefore, having so vast a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, and throwing off everything that hinders us and especially the sin that so easily entangles us, let us keep running with endurance the race set before us, fixing our attention on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of the faith, who, in view of the joy set before him, endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Once you have decided to follow Christ, don’t let anything or anyone stop you from reaching your divine destiny. The devil will try to stop you by any means to receive and enjoy all the promises and blessings reserved for God’s children.

Satan will use people that will distract you, hurt you, or even slow you down so that you end up giving up and losing your faith in God’s Word. He will also use sickness, lack, unexpected challenges, and even your own sinful thoughts and actions to dissuade you from moving forward. However, you have to let go of all things, get up, and just continue running. Run to the arms of Jesus daily as if your life depended on it. Only then, will you overcome the challenges, and receive the crown prepared for you at the finish line.

You would be surprised how much the things you are most comfortable doing, the people who normally don’t challenge you to grow, or your own negative thoughts about yourself, might be what is taking away your strength. If you are ashamed about something you lack or are unable to do, only you can change it by doing first your part and then surrendering it to God for him to bless it.

(“Wilma Rudolph was the twentieth of twenty-two children born into a poor family in the US. As a child, she had polio and was forced to wear leg braces until she was nine. At twelve she tried out for her school’s basketball team and failed. For the next year, she practiced every day until she finally made the team. A college track coach spotted her one day and talked her into letting him train her to be a sprinter. Her persistence and prowess earned her a scholarship to Tennessee State University where she became a track star.

In 1960, she made the U.S. Olympic Team, and in the 100-meter sprint, she had to face the world record holder, Yetta Mynie from Germany. But Wilma won! She did it again in the 200-meter! Wilma’s third race was the 100-meter relay where she again faced Yetta. Just as the baton was handed to Wilma, she dropped it, giving Yetta the lead. But her ‘never-give-up’ spirit made her pick up the baton and take off in desperate pursuit. She caught the German runner in the last few strides and won the third gold medal – more than any other woman had won at that time.” – Bob Gass)

No matter who you are, it is sin and sin alone that easily entangles you and slows you down in order to reach your divine destiny. Don’t get distracted and don’t drop the ball.

• Jesus, You were mocked for our sake, You were scorned by men, You were despised by the people.
• Thank You that You are the author and perfecter of our faith.
• You, Jesus, are seated at the right hand of God, and all authority is given to You.
• Thank You that You did not back down or get distracted from your mission to come and die on the cross.
• Forgive us for giving up when things get hard or we suffer in life.
• Forgive us for not being aware of the people or activities that stop us from walking close to You.
• Give us today the strength and the boldness to get up and continue running the race set before us.
• Let us be a testimony of Your power working through us. We declare that we will continue persevering until we reach our goal.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen
