We Will Get New Bodies

(1 Thessalonians 4:16) “With a shout of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of God’s trumpet, the Lord himself will come down from heaven, and the dead who belong to the Messiah will rise first.”

(1 Corinthians 15:35) “But someone will ask, ‘How are the dead raised? What kind of body will they have when they come back?’”

(1 Corinthians 15:40-42) “There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the splendor of those in heaven is of one kind, and that of those on earth is of another. One kind of splendor belongs to the sun, another to the moon, and still another to the stars. In fact, one star differs from another star in splendor.”

“This is how it will be at the resurrection of the dead. What is planted is decaying, what is raised cannot decay.”

Can you imagine having a body that never ages, decays, gets sick, weak, or is bound by the laws of physics? Well, this is exactly what will happen when Christ returns to rule and reign over the earth. Those who died knowing Christ as their Lord and Saviour will rise first and then the rest of the believers will be transformed in the blinking of an eye.

When Christ resurrected from the dead, He gave us some idea of what that new glorified body would be capable of doing, by the way, He interacted with over 500 people that saw Him alive after His crucifixion. First of all, it was not a zombie like “the walking dead”, but rather a normal-looking body from the outside of flesh and bone, but without blood. Second, it would be able to appear and disappear from places. And third, it was able to eat.

In the verses mentioned here, we get a deeper insight into what kind of a body we will have when Christ returns. It will not be a normal type of human flesh but a spiritual one, as it will not be animal, bird, fish, or human which all are a little different. By having a spiritual body, we will be able to operate in the spiritual with no physical limitations, of location, time, and distance.

We will have different degrees of glory or status, that is, honor or splendor according to the works and labor we did for the Kingdom of Heaven while on earth. There is evidence that there will be different levels of rewards given to us when we meet our maker.

And finally, these bodies will be eternal and not subject to any decay. Life will not end when Christ returns, or when we die, but actually, life, the way God intended it to be for us in the beginning is what we will be able to experience.

Start investing now for the afterlife instead of thinking that the 80 or 100 years on earth is all you were created for.
