Condition To Be Blessed

(Exodus 23:25-26) “You are to serve the LORD your God, and he will bless your food and water, and I’ll remove sickness from you. No woman will miscarry or be barren in your land, and I’ll make every day of your life complete.”

(John 8:10-11) “Then Jesus stood up and asked her, ‘Dear lady, where are your accusers? Hasn’t anyone condemned you?’ ‘No one, sir,’ she replied. Then Jesus said, ‘I don’t condemn you, either. Go home, and from now on do not sin anymore.’”

(John 5:14) “Later on, Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, ‘See, you have become well. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.’”

(Mark 10:52) “Jesus told him, ‘Go. Your faith has made you well.’ At once the man could see again, and he began to follow Jesus down the road.”

If you take the time to read the passages we have mentioned, you will see a similar pattern in them. First of all, God declares and shows His power to heal, protect, deliver, bless, provide and give us any other blessing we can think of. However, either before or after He completes the miracle, He puts some conditions in order for us to benefit from what He has done. Sure, His grace and love for us can do all these things without any input from our side, but for some reason, He chooses to warn us not to take His grace for granted.

When the woman caught in adultery was about to be stoned according to Jewish law, He stepped in and saved her. Not only did he save her, but did not condemn her for her sin. All He asked her is to appreciate the freedom and new life she had just received and not to continue in adultery.

Jesus healed a lame man that had been suffering for 38 years. When Jesus saw him again, now walking around, He told him not to sin anymore unless he wants a worse thing to happen to him. The instruction was a warning, not to take God’s healing for granted by using our bodies to sin or continue hurting others. This statement of Jesus is very clear to make us understand that He demands holiness from us once He touches our lives.

The blind man Jesus healed, immediately started to follow Him instead of using his sight to lust or fulfil his own desires. We need to ask ourselves how we will behave once we get healed from cancer, covid, a handicap, blindness…etc. Sure, we have no doubt of God’s love for us, but we cannot ignore that if God denies us something, it is because He already knows that it will probably drive us away from Him.

Commit your ways to Jesus today, and make a vow to surrender the new life He gives you back to Him to use for His divine plan.

• Heavenly Father, You are the Spirit of truth, Spirit of grace, and Spirit of glory.
• Thank You Father that you are all-powerful to heal us and change any situation in our lives.
• Thank you that You bless our food and water and take away all sickness from us.
• We ask that You have mercy on our situation and give us the blessing we have been asking for.
• Set us free from any oppression, witchcraft, or ancestral curses we may have invited in our lives due to our rebellion.
• Forgive us if we have taken Your blessings for granted, and give us another chance to surrender all You have promised us back to You.
• Thank You for saving us and making us a new creature in Christ. We declare that from this day forth we will be a testimony for Your glory through all that You have given us.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen
