Achieving Only Partial Victory

(2 Kings 13:18-19) “After this Elisha said, ‘Pick up the arrows.’ So the king picked them up. Then Elisha told the king of Israel, ‘Strike the ground!’ So he struck it three times and then stood still. At this the man of God became angry at him and told him, ‘You should have struck five or six times! Then you would have attacked Aram until you would have destroyed it! But as it is now, you’ll defeat Aram only three times!’”

(Luke 10:27) “He answered, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind. And you must love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Have you heard the phrase “If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right?” This is so true for all areas of our life, every relationship, every assignment, and everything where we want to be successful. God is not expecting less from us and our passion and determination to complete a task will have a direct result in our victory. It is our commitment that will determine the size of our success and how long we will be able to enjoy it. It’s easy to get to the top, but staying up there will be determined by how strong of a foundation you have built for yourself.

King Joash went to the prophet Elijah for help when Syria attacked him. Elijah gave him an instruction in the natural which at first seemed illogical and meaningless, but it would actually end up determining the number of battles King Joash would win. If only he would have put more passion into that instruction and continued to strike the arrows, he would have completely annihilated the enemy.

God has no difficulty completely destroying our enemies, therefore it is we who are lacking the passion, commitment, and determination to see ourselves set free. Our enemies can be our health, lack of finances, depression, fears, laziness with God’s work, or even our desire to stay complacent and content in the midst of struggle. It’s time to activate your faith, reignite your fire for God and put into action His instructions.

There is no sadder story than when someone had all the opportunities, resources, talents, connections, and favor and still ended up not enjoying the blessing God had prepared for them. Even following Christ and loving God requires all our heart, soul, strength, and mind. He will not accept anything less if we truly say we want to serve Him.

God has given us instructions, as well as arrows to use against the enemy. That is, to pray His Word into our situations, defeat the enemy in the spiritual and gain total victory in the natural. It’s time to put some passion into it.

Prayers

• Jesus, You took our infirmities and bore our sickness. You were mocked for our sake. You were despised by the people. You are the resurrection and the life.
• Thank You for declaring us victorious even before we enter any battle.
• Thank You for giving us the correct strategy for every situation.
• Forgive us for not putting passion, commitment, and dedication into the instructions you give us.
• Forgive us for giving up after a few attempts or a few prayers regarding our situation.
• Teach us how to take every task seriously and to be determined to see it completed with excellence.
• We declare that, unlike Joash, we will continue to strike the enemy until it is completely destroyed.
• We decide to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, strength, and soul.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
