Be of Good Cheer

(Acts 27:20-25)“For a number of days neither the sun nor the stars were to be seen, and the storm continued to rage until at last all hope of our being saved vanished.”

“After they had gone a long time without food, Paul stood among his shipmates and said… ‘I urge you to have courage because there will be no loss of life among you, but only loss of the ship…’ “

” ‘For just last night an angel of God, to whom I belong and whom I serve, stood by me and said… ‘Indeed, God has given to you the lives of everyone who is sailing with you.’ So take courage, men, because I trust God that it will turn out just as he told me.’ “

(Acts 28:8-9) “The father of Publius happened to be sick in bed with fever and dysentery. Paul went to him, prayed, and healed him by placing his hands on him.  After that had happened, the rest of the sick people on the island went to him and were healed.”

Have you noticed how some believers always have a positive attitude no matter what the situation?  How is it possible to stay calm and even rejoice with what is occurring worldwide?  Everyone around us is losing their jobs, closing down their business, losing loved ones, not able to advance in their studies, and cannot have any prospects of finding a spouse.

It’s simple, they have surrendered to God all aspects of their lives and made Him a partner in every decision.  And they know that God will take a personal interest to protect what belongs to Him as a partner.  As long as we continue to fear losing what doesn’t really belong to us in the first place, we can never be at complete peace or even rejoice.

Apostle Paul was able to assure that lives would not be lost during the storm because he was close enough to God to hear the message.  This was also the reason that he was able to heal all those that came to him.  This is what every disciple of Christ should aim for.  Being able to change lives through the power of the Holy Spirit that has been given to us through Christ.

Sure, there will be times of trouble and we might even face death, but we can rejoice in the fact that whatever God has allowed to arise through the current storm, it will not affect our eternity with Him. I don’t know if you have this peace of knowing where you will pass eternity after death.  If you don’t, I encourage you to personally find out and not depend only on what religion, a pastor, a priest or even your parents and their traditions have taught you.

Surrender, give Christ all things, receive His peace that goes beyond our understanding, and then… share that peace and hope with others facing the same storms.

Prayers

  • Heavenly Father, You restore my soul. You lead me in the path of righteousness.  Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, You are with me.
  • Thank You that You continue to speak to us and use us to change lives.
  • Forgive us for disobeying You and not doing what is needed to get closer to You.
  • Forgive us for being scared and losing our hope when storms arise.
  • Give us today the peace we need to face the storms that are rising around us.
  • We submit our jobs, finances, health, family, thoughts, and dreams to you today once more, and ask you to protect all that we have surrendered to you.
  • Help us to rejoice in every situation and be a source of hope for all those around us.
  • Use us to be a Godly messenger and to bring healing and deliverance to those that come to us asking for Jesus to help them.
  •
  • We ask these things in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen
