Confess And Be Healed

(James 5:13-16) “Is anyone among you suffering? He should keep on praying. Is anyone cheerful? He should keep reciting psalms. Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they should pray for him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.”

“And the prayer offered in faith will save the person who is sick. The Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, make it your habit to confess your sins to one another and to pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

What is the first thing you do when you get a headache? Most of us take a pill, or some homemade remedy, drink water or apply acupressure to our temples. But how many of us actually first pray and ask God to heal us completely? A headache is simply a sign of some kind of chemical imbalance in your body but could be a sign of something much worse if it is persistent. Our faith is powerful enough to completely destroy any headache or physical problem in our body.

God instructs us to continue to pray when we are facing any kind of suffering. By reciting psalms when we are joyful, we declare that God is the one that has healed us, set us free from all our troubles, and we give Him all the glory. This is part of our Christian walk and it’s what keeps our faith growing to the point where no matter what the challenge, we will overcome it.

Before you go to the doctor to start a surgery or treatment, don’t ignore the instruction to call the elders of your church and to have them pray for you and anoint you with oil. You might not have the faith needed to get healed, but someone else might. However, if you feel that you are bothering them for no reason or that you are supposed to suffer this sickness, then you are listening to Satan and ignoring God’s instructions.

You might not be comfortable confessing your sins to them, especially if you are in a position of leadership. Don’t worry about what will happen afterward. It is better to face a little shame, and be restored back to honor by God for obeying His instructions than to die in your sickness. If they are truly full of grace and thankful for what God has done for them, they will not condemn you, but pray for you and help you with your weakness.
Who knows, maybe this deadly sickness is what was needed to set you free from facing spiritual death because of your persistent sin.

If you still can’t confess your sin to anyone, then just chose not to sin any longer and start afresh. Your faith is more than enough to heal you if you walk in righteousness.

• Jesus, You are the one who makes crooked places straight, The only begotten of the Father, The Angel of God.
• Forgive us for not coming to You first when we have a problem and trusting the hand of man instead of Yours.
• Forgive us for not going to the elders in faith to receive our healing.
• We ask that you give us the boldness to share with the elders our problem and any hidden sin that might be allowing our sickness to continue.
• Thank You that we have promised complete healing and restoration.
• We ask that we will find leaders and pastors we can sit with and share our problems, and that they will have the heart of Jesus.
• We ask for more anointing for our elders to be able to pray and deliver those in need from any kind of sickness.
• Let Your church become a house of healing and restoration for those in need.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
