Just A Little Further

(Matthew 26:39) “Going on a little farther, he fell on his face and prayed, ‘O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not what I want but what you want.’”

(Psalms 143:10) “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground.”

(John 10:17-18) “This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it back again. No one is taking it from me; I lay it down of my own free will. I have the authority to lay it down, and I have the authority to take it back again. This is what my Father has commanded me.”

Are you tired of giving up all the things you want to do because of your decision to follow Christ? You gave up that dream job, that intimate relationship, those festive activities, the friends you used to hang out with every weekend, that TV show, or those habits that would eventually damage your body. But what if God still wants more from you? Are you willing to go that step further to completely surrender to Christ?

Christ left the crowds, the twelve disciples including the three that were closest to Him, and went “a little farther” in order to face what God had sent him for. He had to be in a place where He was completely alone, broken, and honest before the Father. This is where He was strengthened to take on the sins of the whole world and make a way for us to be saved.

Before Heaven could accept Christ`s broken body, it had to receive His broken will surrendered in obedience to the Father. Christ was not forced to die for us, and neither will God force you to go a little farther and be a part of His great plan.

He was only a few hours away from the cross, a few days away from the resurrection, and a few months away from the birth of the primitive church, which to this day continues to transform lives. Maybe you are also at that point in your life when things are about to turn around and you are about to birth the ministry God promised you. What are you still not willing to do to get there?

God knows exactly what you are about to face and why He has separated you from others. Therefore, it is vital that we continue to surrender to Him more and more in order to be ready for it. Some of the things we are still holding on to are the very thing stopping us from knowing His will and receiving the promises we have been waiting for.

Maybe it’s time for you to go a little farther, rise a little earlier, stay in His presence a little longer, dig a little deeper, and be bold to ask without doubting.

• Lord God of all flesh. Lord God of Hebrews. Lord who helps us. The Lord who judges me. Lord our God who goes before us. Lord the Spirit. We Praise You.
• Thank You, Jesus, that you voluntarily gave your life for us.
• Thank You, Father, for separating us from those activities and people who weaken us in our faith.
• Give us the boldness to let go of anything and everything that is stopping us from moving forward.
• Help us to go further into your Word, to give more to Your people, to spend more time in Your presence and to separate ourselves more from our selfish desires.
• We lay down our lives just like Christ did for the sake of the kingdom.
• Teach me Your will and let Your Holy Spirit guide me.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
