(John 5:5-9) “One particular man was there who had been ill for 38 years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he asked him, ‘Do you want to get well?’
The sick man answered him, ‘Sir, I don’t have anyone to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I’m trying to get there, someone else steps down ahead of me.’ Jesus told him, ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!’
The man immediately became well, and he picked up his mat and started walking. Now that day was a Sabbath.”
(Psalms 37:4) “Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Are you desperate to change your situation, or have you given up and submitted to the things you are facing? It’s up to you to get up and fight, get up and say no, get up and resist the devil, get up and start moving forward, get up and run to the arms of Jesus, get up and raise your hands in worship, get up and declare that you belong to Christ.
In other words, stop lying in bed feeling sorry for yourself and let the desire to live the abundant life Jesus has promised us change your life. He is asking you today “Do you want to change your situation?”
God is a God of affirmative actions, leaps of faith, and miracles born out of a deep desire. It is within your heart that we desire to be forgiven, desire to repent and change our ways, desire to please God, and be called His child. God needs to see that you are desperate to get what you have been praying for, only then will you appreciate it when He answers all your prayers. Only then will you be grateful for the honor and glory God has put upon you.
It was obvious that the lame man by the pool needed to be healed, yet Jesus asked him if it was his desire to get well. He never got a clear answer, and while the lame man started to complain about his sad situation, Christ healed him and commanded him to get up and start to walk.
Your desire will determine your destiny. No matter how negative your parents, siblings, spouse, or leaders were regarding you, if you ignore what they believed as truth and hold on to the goals you desire in life, you will achieve them. Doctors and teachers don’t have the last word, God does. You have to believe God despite your physical, mental or emotional limitations. No matter what your past has been like, today is a new beginning and God can make all things new.
And don’t ever believe that because these are the cards that you have been dealt, you have no choice but to suffer in this life. God is not Karma as He is merciful and all-powerful to cancel all the negative things you are reaping at this very moment due to some bad choices.
Your destiny is in your desire. If you desire to change, you will change, if not, then you need to stop blaming everyone else for your situation.
