Get Up And Fight

(Revelations 3:2)  “Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.”

(James 4:7)  “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

(Ephesians 6:10-12)  “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Do you remember the movie Rocky with Sylvester Stallone playing the role of a boxer aficionado? Did you know that Stallone is also the one who wrote this movie and that at first he was rejected by all the great Hollywood producers because the story did not have enough sex or crime and the hero loses in the end?  However, it became one of the greatest blockbusters of that decade.  With an initial investment of only 1.1 million USD in 1976, it grossed in over 225 million USD profits and gave way to a theatre musical, video games, soundtracks, and 8 sequels so far.

What made this story special and unique is that a simple, kind-hearted man, who had all the odds against him dared to reach for the stars.  Rocky was poor, from an Italian immigrant background, uneducated, and had no real means to properly train, but he had one thing that separated him from the rest… willingness to continue fighting.

In the movie, we see that no matter how many times he was knocked down by Apollo Creed (the heavyweight world champion), he continued to get up and face him and Rocky stood his ground till the end.  Apollo himself says in the movie that it was like hitting a brick wall, no matter how many times Rocky got punched, he would not give up.  In the end, even though Apollo wins the fight, Rocky is lifted up by the crowd and praised for his resistance to such a great opponent.

This is exactly what we need to do when facing all the things Satan is throwing against us.  No matter what we go through in life, in Jesus we have been given all we need to resist, fight, and unlike Rocky, come out victorious. Yes, we will have to take some punches, but we cannot back down as our strength and resistance are what will bring hope to others facing tough situations.  Start to fight in the spiritual through prayer and you will see the victory in the natural.

(“You may have been to hell’s door and back for yourself and your family, but you’re going to win. You are in the ring with a formidable opponent who wants to ‘knock you out!’  He knows that God has a special plan for your life. But he doesn´t have the power to “knock out” the man or woman who prays and stays close to God.  You’re a resurrected man!  You’ve been renewed in your faith, and you’re firm in your convictions!”-Bob Gass)

The devil has no idea who he is up against. Tell the devil you have been created in the image of his worst nightmare!
