Getting Worn Out

(Daniel 7:25)
“He’ll speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One. He’ll attempt to alter times and laws, and they’ll be given into his control for a time, times, and half a time.”

(Romans 13:13) “Let’s behave decently, as people who live in the light of day. No wild parties, drunkenness, sexual immorality, promiscuity, quarreling, or jealousy!”

(Hebrews 12:3) “For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

(Matthew 11:29-30) “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Are you getting burned out and tired? Do you find it hard to have a positive attitude in all the activities you are a part of? Do you feel that if you stopped doing what you do, it really wouldn’t make a difference in the outcome?
Then you are probably being worn out by the devil in your mind, or you have taken on responsibilities that God did not ask you to do. Just because it is a Christian activity or place of service, it needs to be ordained by God. You have to learn to stop, pray and ask God, before you commit to any activity, even if you believe it will be beneficial to someone. Only when God has ordained an activity, will it be made to measure and blessed by God. If you don’t learn to say no at times, even if it is within the ministry, people will take you for granted.
Satan knows exactly how to wear you down and keep you so busy and occupied, that when it comes time to read your Bible or this devotional, all you want to do is close your eyes and sleep.
I remember when I started taking my walk with Christ seriously, all my activities that interfered with my walk with Christ had to stop.
My friends stopped calling me on Saturday nights to go out for dinner as they knew I would be preparing my heart for Sunday service. My family stopped calling me on Sunday lunch gatherings, as they knew I attended the evening service as well. Eventually, I found myself strong and free to serve in the Church and get my priorities straight. This was the secret of my restoration and personal growth in ministry. You have to set your mind to the things of God first, and then your actions, attitude, and words will follow.

Take the time now and ask God what things you need to let go of, even if it is just for a season.

• Father, You are the true Life-Giver. All of life was and is created by You and is dependent on You.
• We surrender all our activities, responsibilities, burdens, and daily chores at the feet of Jesus. And we ask that You burn with fire all the things that are not pleasing to You, or ordained by You.
• We ask You for the boldness to make changes in our lives that will allow us to focus more on the plans You have made of us.
• We ask for forgiveness for having put You aside, for having ignored spending time with You, and for having avoided spending time with Your people.
• We want to be good examples for others by putting aside all social activities that are contrary to Your moral standards.
• We break the yoke we have put upon ourselves right now in Jesus’ name, and we come under the yoke You have prepared for us which is light and easy.
• Thank you for setting us free once more from all the sins we have committed and for allowing us to live with strength and boldness to bring glory to Your name.
• In Jesus’ name we have asked – Amen
