Jesus Feels Your Pain

(Hebrews 4:15) “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

(Psalms 23:4) “Even when I walk through a valley of deep darkness, I will not be afraid because you are with me. Your rod and your staff—they comfort me.”

(Psalms 109:30-31) “I will give many thanks to the LORD with my mouth, praising him publicly, for he stands at the right hand of the needy one, to deliver him from his accusers.”

The moment we start to think of Jesus only as God, we miss the whole purpose of the cross. Jesus was not superman, a magician, an alien, nor someone with the supernatural ability to not feel pain. Yes, He was 100% God, but He was also 100% man. He felt pain, hunger, thirst, and emotions like anger and sadness. He was insulted, betrayed, and misunderstood. He felt every whip that tore his skin and he bled for real on that cross. All this had to happen in order for us to understand that we can go to someone who truly understands our suffering.

When Jesus wept at the grave of Lazarus, he was not sad because Lazarus was gone, but because He was touched by the pain of others. Not only that, but as He approached the time for Him to finish His mission on earth, He realized how those closest to Him still did not understand that He had the power to raise the dead.

No matter what you are going through right now, believe that Jesus is there with you. He is holding your hand while you are condemned, mocked, falsely accused, and persecuted for His name’s sake. Jesus is there while you sacrifice all you have for your family, while you suffer sickness in silence, and while you carry the pain of the words spoken in the past. He is there even if you don’t want Him to be there or if you can’t feel His love.

The God of the Bible is not someone who just created the world and then left us to make our own destinies. He became man, gave up his divine power while on earth, and set an example for us by becoming completely dependent on the power of the Holy Spirit. If you have chosen to become a Child of God by surrendering to Christ, you are not alone. The body of Christ, His church, is now your family.

No matter what you are facing right now, Jesus is the only one that can truly understand it. Go to Him and just be in His presence. This is the first step to being set free from your pain.

• Heavenly Father, You are the Lord who raises up all those who are bowed down. He who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He who raises the poor out of the dust.
• Thank You, Father, that You did not just create the world and leave us at our own fate.
• Thank You that You are concerned about every area of our lives and wish for us to live in the abundance of life.
• Thank You that Jesus is not someone who is not familiar with the suffering of man.
• We surrender right now all our pain to the feet of Jesus.
• Lord, we ask You to allow us to feel your love and for Your rod and Your staff to comfort us.
• Father, let us be like Jesus and just reach out to those who are hurting and to listen to them.
• Teach us Lord, how to just be there for those who need someone to sit with them and pray.
• We cancel right now any of the negative words anyone has spoken against us and we receive only Your truth.
• Set us free today, Lord, to have a right relationship with You and to start to live the abundant life You have promised us.
• We declare that even if we walk through the valley of darkness we shall not be afraid, because You are with us.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
