Losing Godly Values

(Proverbs 11:3-4) “The integrity of the righteous guides them, but the hypocrisy of the treacherous destroys them. Wealth won’t help in the time of judgment, but righteousness will deliver from death.”

(Genesis 39:9b) “…So how can I commit such a horrible evil? How can I sin against God?’”

(Psalms 51:4) “Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done what was evil in your sight. As a result, You are just in Your pronouncement and clear in your judgment.

(Acts 4:19-20) “But Peter and John answered them, ‘You must decide whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than God, for we cannot stop talking about what we’ve seen and heard.’”

What has happened to our moral values? When did our word or commitment mean nothing unless we had a written contract that would bind both to do as they had spoken? When did marriage vows become just tradition and could easily be broken based on feelings and emotions? Think about it. We no longer have men and women with integrity or a sense of duty, but rather a society that tries to get away with as much as possible as soon as possible.

This is not the plan God had for men and women, but He ordained our yes to be yes and our no to be no, anything outside of that is a sin because it makes us vulnerable to lie, cheat and fail on our promises. I am glad that God does not fail to any of His promises and is not moved by how many times we fail Him.

Imagine if God stopped forgiving us for our sins because He knows that we will commit the same exact sin as soon as we turn the corner. Or that He was so hurt by the way we have destroyed His name in society that He would allow us to die in our sins with no second chances?

We can lie to men to make a sale, steal from them because our needs are more important, and even fail them because we are selfish, but what about God? David admitted that He had sinned against men and against God. Joseph understood that no matter what the offer, he could not sin against God.

The apostles could not deny or stop proclaiming the things they had experienced with Jesus. The great heroes of the Bible lived in fear of the Lord and His commandments. Sure, they were not perfect, but they had integrity and admitted their fault, and repented, making restitution when necessary.

If you are a man or woman of God, then you have to stick to your promises, finish your commitments, and be doing what you are supposed to do when you are supposed to be doing it.

If you would only focus on not sinning against God, you will always be safe from losing your Godly values or sinning against men.

• Father, You are He who keeps me as an apple of an eye, Your right hand shall hold me, You are my shade at my right hand.
• Thank You Father that You are true to Your word and that we can stand firm on Your promises.
• Thank You that Your yes is yes and Your no is no.
• Thank You, that if we confess our sins You are faithful and just to forgive us from all unrighteousness.
• We ask that you forgive us today from a lying tongue and a deceiving mind.
• Forgive us for committing to a task, or a person and then failing based on our emotions.
• Forgive us for not representing the integrity of Jesus through our lives.
• We ask that today we will have the valor and the desire to live as the Apostles did, putting You first and not caring about what anyone says or thinks about us.
• We reject any offer made by the world that will go against Your commandments.
• We declare that we are righteous through Jesus Christ and that our integrity will guide us.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
