(Psalms 25:4-5) “Cause me to understand your ways, LORD; teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me; for you are the God who delivers me. All day long I have waited for you.”
(Philippians 4:6) “Never worry about anything. Instead, in every situation let your petitions be made known to God through prayers and requests, with thanksgiving.”
(Ephesians 6:18) “Pray in the Spirit at all times with every kind of prayer and request. Likewise, be alert with your most diligent efforts and pray for all the saints.”
The normal procedure during a time of prayer is first, thanking God for the forgiveness of our sins through Jesus Christ, then asking for others and their needs, next asking for our personal needs, and finally thanking Him for answering our prayers. This is all good, but what we forget to realize, is that the act of prayer starts transforming us from the inside out and things start to automatically move in the spiritual. The first thing that happens in the spiritual realm when a follower of Jesus gets on his knees, is that the devil starts to tremble.
However, a transformation also starts to occur in our lives in the natural. First, by asking God, we declare that He exists, that He is able to give what we ask of Him, and that He loves us enough to give us whatever we desire.
Second, we declare that we depend on Him for all things and that He will receive the glory for whatever we receive.
Third, by putting time aside to pray and have communion with Him, we declare that He is a priority in our lives and that we delight to be in His presence.
Fourth, by praying for others, we obey His commandment of loving and caring for our neighbor and praying for the saints (not idols, but other believers in Christ).
Fifth, by thanking Him for answering our prayers, we declare that we have prayed with faith and without any doubt that God has answered “Yes” and “Amen” to your petitions.
And finally, by praying with this faith, we declare that our desires, purpose, and hearts are aligned with God`s. God reveals things to you within your heart, teaches your mind how to react, and guides you by taking your hand.
(“When David prayed, ‘Show me…teach me…guide me,’ he was describing the process that prayer takes us through. Once you accept what God wants to show you, He is able to teach you. And when you are teachable, He’s finally able to guide you into His plan and purpose.” – Bob Gass)
Are you still focusing only on an answer to your prayers? Just start to pray and forget about the result, as the miracle has already started within you.
Prayers
• Jesus, You are the strength of Israel, the Hope of Israel, and the Rock of Israel.
• Thank You Lord that you deliver us from all trouble when we decide to pray.
• Thank You, Father, that we are transformed when we decide to enter Your presence and start to pray.
• Forgive us for only looking for answered prayers, and for only desiring things, instead of desiring to be in Your presence.
• Give us the heart to intercede and pray for all believers and for those who are in ministry work.
• Keep us alert as we continue to pray in the Spirit and become aware of the needs of the saints.
• Help us change and become intercessors in prayer, instead of worriers of situations.
• We cancel all our anxiety and we bring all our petitions before you, believing that you will take care of all things.
• Cause us to understand Your ways, LORD; teach us Your paths. Guide us in Your truth.
•
• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
