(Proverbs 13:20) “Whoever keeps company with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm.”
(Proverbs 15:22) “Plans fail without advice, but with many counselors they are confirmed.”
Learn to choose wisely who you make part of your circle of friends. Find mentors, people that have struggled and learned the hard lessons in life. There is no shame in being taught all things in order to succeed and to spend a season serving someone who will teach you true leadership. My pastor taught me that until I have my own ministry, I need to serve someone who already has one. This way I will see how things are done in order to be successful, and learn from the mistakes others have made before me.
The Bible is very clear about this issue and warns us against trying to become friends with fools. Just because someone is popular or famous, he does not automatically become someone you should imitate or follow. Even a clown can be famous and popular while entertaining a crowd.
God instructs us to ask for counsel from men and women of God as much as needed in order to be prospered in all we do. Keep company with those that have integrity, honesty, and obey God’s Moral Laws. Let their blessings challenge you to reach higher today. Money and fame are temporary and can easily be lost in one day. You need to reach higher through the one who holds all the wealth, fame, honor, and glory in His hands.
Learn how to rejoice over the blessings of others. If seeing others blessed makes you want to sabotage their success, then you’ll never be fruitful. You will actually be committing the sin of envy, or coveting by wanting to take that which they have achieved. Understand that the same God who blessed them can also bless you.
Be bold enough to let go of people around you that do not help you to reach your goals in life and instead, hold on to Jesus to achieve the heights only He can lead you to.
Prayers
• Jesus, You bore the sin of many, You took our infirmities and bore our sickness, You bore our grief and carried our sorrows.
• Thank You, Father, that You hold our future in Your hands.
• Thank You that we can achieve all things beyond our imagination through Jesus.
• Forgive us for following the wrong people and asking for advice from those that seem prosperous in our eyes.
• Teach us how to serve those that serve You and to learn from them that have been discipled by You.
• We surrender all our friends and relationships to You and ask You to separate those from us that are not part of Your will.
• Help us rejoice when others prosper in You and to continue to bless them in our prayers.
•
• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
