God Wants Your Best

(Deuteronomy 10:12-13) “Now Israel, what does the LORD your God desire from you? Only this: fear him, walk in all his ways, love him, serve him with all your heart and in all your life, and observe his commands and statutes that I’m commanding you today for your own good.”

(Exodus 23:19a) “You are to bring the best of the first fruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God…”

(2 Samuel 24:24) “‘No!’” the king replied to Araunah. ‘I will buy them from you at full price. I won’t offer to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.’ So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for 50 silver shekels,”

Following Christ will cost you what He is worth, and He is worth all you have and all you can ever be. We don´t like leftovers or hand-me-downs and guess what, neither does God. We always put God aside until we are desperate and have tried all other ways to solve our problems. God wants to be the first person we go to whenever facing a challenge. He wants to be first in your life and first in your heart.

There is no pride nor glory if we achieve anything without God being part of it or by doing things contrary to His commandments. This same attitude is transferred to a lack of gratitude towards God. We give to Him after we have given ourselves our pleasures firsts and the things we think are a priority.

David understood that giving to God something that does not cost him anything (the extras or leftovers) is of no real value. Over and over again, sacrificial love is the basis for the Christian faith. It’s sacrificial suffering, sacrificial giving, sacrificially tolerating, sacrificial humbleness, and going the extra mile without being asked to do so.

(“It’s not easy to get up and prepare for the challenge while others sleep. Just like Jesus in Gethsemane, you’ll discover it’s difficult to find people who’ll stand with you while you’re in preparation. You’ve got to pay the price. If you have the passion to get God’s best, then the price doesn’t matter. Sometimes you’ll have tears in your eyes and dirt under your fingernails. Nobody said it was going to be easy! Some days all you can do is stand!”- Bob Gass)

If you want God’s best in your life, you have to make some sacrifices and give Him first your best. He has already done His part thruogh Christ and is waiting for you to do yours.

• Jesus, You shed Your blood for us, The chastisement for our peace was upon You, You are He who tasted death for everyone.
• Thank You, Lord, that You only want the best for us and Your plans for us are of good and not of evil.
• Thank You that You sent Your son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins.
• Forgive us for not making You a priority in our lives and for not being grateful for all Your blessings.
• Teach us how to give to You the best of what we have. To give You the first fruits of our increase, the first moment of the day, and the first praise for every achievement.
• Like David, let us not bring to You an offering that does not cost us anything.
• We declare that we will fear You, walk in all Your ways, love You, serve You with all our heart and in all our lives, and observe Your commands and statutes that You have commanded us for our own good.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
