Set Apart For Him

(2 Corinthians 6:17) “‘Therefore, Get away from them and separate yourselves from them,’ declares the Lord, ‘and don’t touch anything unclean. Then I will welcome you.’”

(Psalm 4:3) “Know that the Lord has set apart the faithful for Himself; the Lord will hear when I call to Him.”

(Luke 17:33) “Whoever tries to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve it.”

A simple meaning of the word ‘sanctified’, is to be set apart for God. To be separated from the crowd for a specific purpose. It is doing what is right in the eyes of God, even if the whole world is against you. This sanctification can involve separating us from our family, our friends, and our community for a season. At the same time, He will surround us with people and activities that also focus on godliness first. This is also called consecration, and it is a requirement from Jesus if we want to spend eternity next to Him.

In modern society, being different is considered a virtue and applauded by society, however, this does not happen with those that choose godliness. They applaud all the wrong things and encourage you to continue behaving against what God considers as holy. When consecrated, you will not feel less important because you don’t wear the latest fashion or have the latest phone. It’s having the joy to go to the house of the Lord regularly on Sundays to have fellowships with other believers instead of the beach, the football game, or a barbeque.

God will give you a clear purpose and direction why you are set apart. He will give you the courage, strength, sense of purpose, faith, and determination to continue forward with your mission no matter what the obstacles. Holiness, sanctification, and consecration are not only doing the things Christians do according to the Bible, but it is actually NOT participating in those things the world does and being aware of the dangers behind those activities.

Sure, our parents might consecrate us as children before the church, but that does not guarantee us a godly life or even salvation. You have to make a personal decision to live for God and only for Him. Nothing that you are fighting for, except for eternity next to God is worth living for. Your job, health, money, house, friends, fame, and anything at all that you value can be gone tomorrow. Then what are you going to do? I’m not saying become a priest, but make sure that you put God and His will first in your life and do not focus only on what others think is right for you according to society.

You can wait your whole life for the right moment to go into the mission field, serve in the church, speak to your friends and family about Jesus, preach in the streets and invite people to know Christ, and that time might never come.

“(If God has spoken to your heart to go, get ready and when he opens the door, walk through it, if you do, you’ll never regret it. – bob Gass.)

Set yourself apart today for Jesus, don’t wait any longer, as no one is going to do it for you.

• Heavenly Father, O! Lord, how great are Your works. Your work is perfect and all Your ways are justice. Your righteousness is like the great mountains.
• Thank You Father for choosing us to be set apart for Your divine purpose.
• Thank You for strengthening us to walk in Your ways even if they contradict what the world teaches us to do.
• Forgive us for rejecting Your calling to be set apart in fear of what man will think of us.
• Forgive us for trying to save our lives from your calling to obedience.
• We declare that we will lose our lives into Your hands and gain all that You have prepare for us.
• We decide not to touch anything unclean and to separate ourselves to receive You into our lives.
• Sanctify us today once more, Lord and continue to teach us Your ways.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen
