The Devil Hates Worship

(Hebrews 13:15) “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”

(Psalms 113:3) “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’S name is to be praised.”

(Psalms 150:6) “Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”

(Acts 16:25-26) “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. “

There is tremendous power in the act of praise and worship. Whenever we do this, we declare God’s love, greatness, compassion, power, mercy, and all the other attributes we can read in the book of Psalms. God commands us and the angels to worship the name of Jesus. This act of worship is something that does not always come easily, and the devil truly hates.

The Bible teaches us that the devil was the worship leader for all the angels before he was kicked out of God’s presence and cast down to earth and now awaits God’s final judgment. He got jealous of the worship God was receiving and wanted some for himself. So whenever you and I praise the Lord, we are doing what the devil used to do, and he is not happy about it.

This is why we sometimes have so many attacks on our emotions whenever we decide to enter a time of praise and worship. We don’t feel like it, become conscious of what others might say around us, feel like maybe it’s not really doing anything, or that we are being hypocritical by forcing ourselves to worship…etc.

When you push through all your depression, suffering, and struggles in life and still praise God, the devil gets confused as he sees that all his strategies to stop you from worshipping God are useless. When Paul and Silas were thrown in prison for preaching about Jesus, they started to praise and worship. The power was such that the walls shook, the prison doors opened and not only their shackles but also those of the other prisoners fell off and all were set free.

(“We learn from Hebrews 13 three important things about praise. First, it should be continual, not occasional! Second, it should be sacrificial, not just when you feel like it! Third, it should be audible, not just silent! If you are still breathing, you should be praising God.” – Bob Gass)

I have personally seen and heard many times when during the time of praise and worship in church, people have been set free from demonic oppression, or have received their healing both in their body and emotions.

Prayers
