Time To Repent

(Revelation 2:20-21) “But I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet and who teaches and leads my servants to practice immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. I gave her time to repent, but she refused to repent of her immorality.”

(James 4:10) “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”

(Hebrews 12:5-6) “You have forgotten the encouragement that is addressed to you as sons: ‘My son, do not think lightly of the Lord’s discipline or give up when you are corrected by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he punishes every son he accepts.’”

What does Repentance actually mean? It is more than just being sorry for what you have done, it literally means to make a U-turn in your thoughts and actions. One can be sorry for making a mistake but if you continue to make that same mistake over and over again, then, there is no true repentance.

Those that are in prison might be sorry for what they did or even shed tears of sadness over their situation. However, most of them don’t repent, as the reason for their sadness is not the sin or crime they committed, but they are sad because they got caught and are now being punished. This is obvious, as many go back to their criminal ways once they have served their time in prison.

When Jesus started to preach, He did not start by saying, God loves you, there is a better life waiting for you if you follow me, or that I will heal you, prosper you and bless you. He started preaching…REPENT! Repent from making our own man-made system to receive forgiveness for your sins and ignore the salvation that God wants to give you as a gift through His grace. Repentance of dead religion and traditions that don’t bring change to your lives, but actually give you a false sense of righteousness.

God knows how to reach each one of us and humble us to the point that we do repent and surrender to Christ in order to have our sins washed away. He will do this because He is a loving Father and does not want you to spend eternity separated from Him.

(“Humbling yourself before God will turn things around in your life when nothing else works. Before you go a step further, get alone with God, repent of your disobedience, and let Him restore you to full fellowship. He is waiting for you.”- Bob Gass)

Until we don’t understand that the Heavenly Father corrects those He loves, we will never experience the fullness of being His children. Therefore repent of your ways and surrender to Him today.
