Waiting Without Wasting Time

(James 1:4) “But you must let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.”

(Psalms 144:1-2) “Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for battle and my fingers for warfare, he is my gracious love and my fortress, my strong tower and my deliverer, my shield and the one in whom I find refuge, who subdues peoples under me.”

(Deuteronomy 8:2) “Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way these 40 years in the desert, to humble and test you in order to make known what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.”

No one likes to wait and it can be very frustrating if you don’t understand why God is completely quiet or completely still regarding your situation. In the natural, our patience is tested every day when we have to wait in the bank, supermarket, petrol station, traffic…etc. This is a total waste of time. But when we are waiting in the spiritual for God to fulfill His purpose in our lives through Jesus, we have to make the most of this process and recognize how we are being transformed from the inside.

When God makes us wait, He is perfecting in us our patience which in turn will take away all anxiety and we might even end up not desiring what we were initially so desperate for. We learn to trust God in His perfect timing and accept every difficult situation as another opportunity to strengthen our faith.

God takes this waiting period to train us for battle in the spiritual. We learn how God is our deliverer, and that He will subdue our enemies. As long as we are aware of this and constantly learning about ourselves and about God, we are moving forward and time is not wasted. That training period also involves praising Him, studying His Word, and sharing the Gospel.

During this quiet time, God will test your trust in Him and your obedience to keep His commandments when things get tough. He needs to see if you are mature enough to handle the blessings, healings, prosperity, and honor that come from Him. It is in this time of testing that you will know if you are really cut out to carry the anointing that God wants to pour upon you.

However, if you are waiting for something important in your life and not taking any steps towards getting it, then you are living in a dreamland. The Word says that “What is impossible for man is possible WITH God”. In other words, you have to take steps guided BY God and WITH God, not to simply let Him do all the seeking, asking, and knocking for you in the natural.

Waiting does not mean being idle and simply praying for help, it means doing whatever is in your hands and expecting God to do a miracle with all you have surrendered to Him. God will do a wonderful thing when you least expect it.
