Time To Get Back Up

(Psalms 18:36) “You make a broad place for my steps, so my feet won’t slip.”

(Psalms 37:31) “The instruction of his God is in his heart; his steps will not slip.”

(Psalms 121:3) “He will never let your foot slip, nor will your guardian become drowsy.”

(Proverbs 24:16) “for though a righteous man falls seven times, he will rise again, but the wicked stumble into calamity.”

People will always count and remind you of how many times you fall or fail, but Jesus will only show you how many times you have gotten back up. If you have received Christ as your Lord and Savior, then God is not so concerned about your occasional sin, but rather your continued sinful lifestyle. The difference between the sinner and the saved is that the sinner stays in His sinful state and enjoys it, while the righteous get back up and run to Jesus for forgiveness. Trust me, eventually, you will fall so many times and get back up that you will quit doing the things and going to the places that tempt you to fall.

It’s like the story of the farmer who was walking on a dirt road with one of his pigs and a sheep. They both drifted a little from the farmer and fell down a ditch into a mud pit. The sheep quickly got out of the pit and started to violently shake off the mud, while the pig sat there wallowing and enjoying himself in the mud. Which one are you, the pig or the sheep?

The Word of God teaches us that if we walk close to Jesus, He will continually watch over us and stop our feet from slipping. This is not talking about a physical slip, but a spiritual and moral one. God does not lie. Therefore, if you are constantly slipping and falling into sin, then it is because you want to and because you are not wanting to walk close to the shepherd. Even the devil has no power to make you sin because God is watching over you and promises that no one can make you sin. However, you have complete freedom to ignore God’s warnings, teachings, and counsel and do whatever you desire.

But don’t worry, now that you know that it is all your fault, get back up and start over. This ability is a privilege God gives to those who have surrendered to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. There will be no condemnation, no guilt, no “I told you so” from God towards you, only complete restoration and rejoicing for having returned to the Father.

However, those who continue to reject God’s instructions, and try and make the righteous stumble, will themselves only continue to fall deeper and deeper into darkness.

Remember, falling is not so serious as long as you don’t stay down. Get back up, get on your knees and fight like a man.
