Worried About Reputation?

(1 Corinthians 2:4-5) “My message and my preaching were not accompanied by clever, wise words, but by a display of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith would not be based on human wisdom but on God’s power.”

(1 Corinthians 4:3-4) “It is a very small thing to me that I should be examined by you or by any human court. In fact, I don’t even evaluate myself. For my conscience is clear, but that does not vindicate me. It is the Lord who examines me.”

(Proverbs 21:2) “Every man’s lifestyle is proper in his own view, but the LORD weighs the heart.”

You would be surprised to know how little people actually care about what you are doing. Most are busy with their own problems and responsibilities, so just relax and focus on what needs to be done today. No matter what men think about you, it is God who determines what is right or wrong, what is shameful or praiseworthy, and what deserves life or death. Others’ opinions won’t stop God from fulfilling His plans for you. Therefore, learn to rest in Christ and only be concerned about what God has promised and who He is in your life.

The devil has skillfully used the fear of a bad reputation, against you and others, even to the point that it is one of the causes of suicide. If you made a mistake in a time of weakness or are about to be exposed publically because of a scandal that will damage your reputation or that of your family, you are no longer in a position to think clearly. This fear is very powerful and it has brought a lot of pain to many families.

What your culture, community, family, or friends expect you to do is not as important as what you are supposed to do according to God. Most of the people that expect you to act a certain way are probably living bound by their own fears.

When we don’t understand God´s love for us, we will always run around trying to be liked by everyone, which is practically impossible. This is life, and the sooner you accept it, the sooner you will be able to enjoy every day and be successful at all you do. The only one you should worry about judging you is God according to His laws.

They hated Christ for all the good He did and for the truth He revealed to us about the kingdom of heaven. Don’t expect to be hated less than your master, if you are, then you are probably not serving Him the way you should.

Paul had understood that there was no power at all in trying to manipulate people to agree with him through philosophy, nice words, or his personal charisma, but to rather focus on preaching the simple message of Christ on the Cross, and let the power of the Holy Spirit do the convincing. He did not care what people thought about him as long as Christ was glorified through His life. He started preaching to impress until he realized it is better to bless.

Only when you are determined to represent Christ and not yourself, will you walk with integrity and avoid making mistakes that bring shame to you and your loved ones.

• Heavenly Father, You are The Most high God, Great God, God of gods, The Living God, A Loving God, God of Love and peace, The Eternal God, God of all comforts, We praise You.
• Thank You, Father, for giving us our true identity in Christ.
• Thank You that you are not moved by what others say or think about us, as you see within our hearts.
• We pray for those that have lost a loved one due to the fear of reputation.
• Forgive us for standing in fear of what others will say, instead of walking in integrity.
• Forgive us for thinking that there is any value at all in the judgment of men against us.
• Give us today the personality and the identity to know who we are in Christ, and how much You love us.
• We receive today Your calling on our lives and decide to walk in it.
• We refuse to evaluate ourselves with the eyes of men, and we receive your truth.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen
