You Need A Break

(Isaiah 40:29-31) “He’s the one who gives might to the faint, renewing strength for the powerless. Even boys grow tired and weary, and young men collapse and fall, but those who keep waiting for the LORD will renew their strength. Then they’ll soar on wings like eagles; they’ll run and not grow weary; they’ll walk and not grow tired.”

(Psalms 91:15) “When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him in his distress. I will deliver him, and I will honor him.”

Everyone needs a break once in a while if they want to continue being effective and productive. A total time of rest where you are not tied to a schedule, worried about deadlines, or constantly worrying about others’ needs. Not only a break from physical labor but to completely disconnect mentally from all the stress of daily life. Or else, you will risk getting burnt out and sicknesses that lead to an early grave.

If you are parents, you must admit that you desperately need a break and a weekend without your children. Sometimes, even a simple dinner with old friends without your family can help. Even Pastors need to take a break and completely separate themselves from the church members at least once a week and maybe a couple of weeks a year. You are no good if you are constantly sick, tired, and without a desire to do what is needed.

However, as a disciple of Christ, we can never take a break from Him, as Christ is our source of life. When God commands us to wait on Him, it is with a purpose. It is to renew our strength both physically, spiritually, and emotionally. It is not to spend all day watching your favorite TV or internet serials, it is to get alone with Him.

Sure, go to the beach, hike up to the mountains, and go on a road trip once in a while, but continue to ask Jesus to renew your mind and strengthen you for the next step in your life. Pour out your heart to Jesus who cares for you and let the Holy Spirit completely fill you again.

If you are constantly exhausted, easily upset, feel like no one cares, depressed, or just plain tired of everything and everyone, then check how much time you are spending in God’s presence. God does not lie, and He promises that miraculously He will make you soar like an eagle. He will lift your spirit, and give you strength that will not fail.

God wants to put you back in the race. He wants you to strengthen and encourage others as well. He wants to bring you honor for waiting on Him. He wants to answer when you call on Him. His deliverance will start by first setting you free from some of the things that He did not ordain you to carry.

God wants to set you free today in order to spend time with you. It’s time to take a step back, take a break and contemplate all He has done for you today.

• Heavenly Father, You are the Lord who loves the righteous. The righteous shall be fresh and flourishing and still bear fruit in old age. Lord, You are with the good.
• Thank You Father that You are aware of all our needs and understand that we get tired.
• Thank You that you want to strengthen us and equip us for Your purpose.
• Forgive us for wanting to do all things with our own strength and ability.
• Forgive us for thinking that serving others and their needs is more important than obeying You.
• Give us today the wisdom to cancel those activities that are not ordained by You.
• Teach us how to take a break and wait on You in Your presence.
• We declare that You will renew our strength when we spend time in Your presence. We will soar on wings like eagles; we will run and not grow weary, and we will walk and not grow tired.
• We call on the power of Christ to continue to hold all things together in our lives.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
