Carpe Diem

(Job 38:12) “Have you ever commanded the morning at any time during your life? Do you know where the dawn lives, where it seizes the edge of the earth and shakes the wicked out of it?

(Joshua 10:13-14) “So the sun remained still and the moon stood in place until the nation settled their score with their enemies. This is recorded, is it not, in the book of Jashar? The sun stood in place in the middle of the sky and seemed not to be in a hurry to set for nearly an entire day. There has never been a day like it before or since, when the LORD listened to the voice of a man, because the LORD was fighting on behalf of Israel.”

The Phrase Carpe Diem is from a Roman poet and it means, ‘Seize the Day’, ‘Make the Most of It’, or “Enjoy the pleasures of the day without worrying too much about tomorrow”. I understand it as, ‘Don’t let the problems of today command your actions but exercise your God-given authority over them.’ People, events, and your current circumstances should not dictate what you do and how you feel.

Only as children of God do we have the spiritual authority to command things into place and to surrender everything that concerns us in His hands. This way, even if an unexpected event happens, we know that God is allowing it with a purpose. Otherwise, you are just another puppet in the hands of Satan.

Only God has the power to make the sun rise every day or to make it stand still as He did in the book of Joshua so they could continue destroying the enemy. Yes, God will make time, events and people stand still for you as you continue to conquer ground for His Kingdom. Therefore, it is wise to command the day to surrender to His plan for you, so that all of creation will obey and move according to God’s purpose.

The Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who take action through prayer and command earthly time and events to submit to God. It’s not for those who just sit on the sidelines watching the days go by. When You actively ask God to stand by your side, every demon will know who is backing you up and your day will make a drastic turn around to your favor.

You can spend all day being pushed around by everything and everyone, or you can seize the day, and command it to surrender to Christ. 

Prayers

• Heavenly Father, You have dealt well (are dealing well, will deal well) with Your servants. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Your words give light and understanding to the simple.
• Thank You, Father, that You command the day into existence, You limit the extension of the seas and all creation submits to your Word.
• Thank You, that you listen to our voice, stand up and fight on our behalf.
• Forgive us for allowing the days to go by without using our spiritual Authority in Christ.
• Forgive us for letting circumstances and people dictate our feelings and decisions.
• Teach us how not to focus and worry constantly about tomorrow, but to make the most of today.
• Give us the faith to command the day to submit to Your divine purpose and authority.
• We declare that we will do things according to Your will, no matter what the devil throws at us.
• We command this day to position itself to favour all we do according to God’s will.
