Deal With Sin Right Away

(1 John 1:9-10) “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

(Proverbs 28:13) “He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.”

(Matthew 6:34) “So never worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

It was sin that separated us from God and it is still sin that continues to stop us from being in His presence. Even Adam had to hide from God in shame and fear once he fell into sin. Sin completely confused His perception of God’s love as this is not the way God deals with us when we fall into sin. God first listens, has compassion, and does not condemn us, but rather, gives us a chance to confess, repent, and lends us a helping hand to get back up. He wants us to open up and be completely honest with ourselves first and then with Him.

When Cain killed his brother Abel, God also gave him a chance to confess and rectify the damage. But Cain was already engrossed with jealousy, anger, and pride and started to back answer God. Maybe Cain didn’t realize that God has the power to raise the dead and to forgive us of all our sins. No matter what our sin is, it is never too evil that God will not completely forgive. I think we forget that He is aware of all our deepest and darkest secrets.

When we live with unconfessed sin and continue to hide it, it affects our relationship with God. Sin confuses our understanding of God’s character, and makes us feel not worthy of His love, it can stop us from praying and asking because we feel we don’t deserve it. God promises that hidden sin will not allow us to prosper in life. Sin can become our master if we don’t cut it off by the roots and cast it away.

Only by constantly confessing our sins to Jesus, and asking for His help will we be able to overcome any oppression the enemy is controlling us with. It is completely your decision to confess and repent as God has already given you the authority over sin through the victory of Jesus over death and sin. Stop trusting in your own strength and ability to overcome temptation and start using the power of the Holy Spirit.

Don’t worry about what sins you will commit tomorrow, just focus on today. Let Jesus take away your sins today so you can live a life of liberty and victory.
