(Luke 13:13-14) “Then he placed his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the synagogue leader, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, told the crowd, ‘There are six days when work is to be done. So come on those days to be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.’”
There is amazing power in Praise. When everything around us seems to crumble, when according to man nothing seems to work out for us, when in the eyes of others we live a miserable life, is the time to start to Praise God in public. That is when we truly show our faith in His Word and outlive every negative word spoken against us. When you are able to praise God no matter what, even the devil gets confused and will take a step back for a season.
Man has a tendency to focus on the negative around them and is afraid and uncomfortable with change. We all have some level of prejudice against those that threaten our traditions or belief system. By focusing on what someone is wearing, their heavy accent, the color of their skin, their religious background, or their gender, we can get distracted from what God is wanting to speak to us through that person.
Just like the Jewish leader in the synagogue, instead of focusing on the great miracle Jesus had done, he was focused on how it affected his religious traditions. This is exactly how the devil daily attacks us. We want to be grateful for the small things in life, and share it with everyone as a testimony. But the devil reminds us of the big problems we have to face, thus distracting our focus.
Face it, not everyone you meet will be someone you like or someone that agrees with your way of thinking or belief system. A brother recently advised me regarding listening to someone who thinks, acts, or preaches differently from the way I do. He said, “learn to eat the meat and spit out the bones.”
We have to be like the lady that got healed. She did not care where she was, or which day it was, or what anyone said. She did not turn around and start to argue with the religious leaders and create a fight, as she knew that the miracle spoke louder than she ever could. She just started to praise God and give Him thanks for how Jesus had set her free. If you have received Christ in your heart and have been set free from the power of sin, you have a reason to praise Him every single day.
Let your life transformed by Jesus be such a miracle that it will speak louder than any sermon.
