Don’t Give up Just Yet

(Joshua 1:6-7) “Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.”

(Joshua 23:8) “But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.”

(James 1:12) “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”

The Christian faith is not for the faint-hearted. It will take all of you to make it till the end and receive the reward of heaven. You will have to go against the world and all that is popular or praised. There will be times that you will wonder if you have chosen the wrong way and if all the insults, sacrifices, rejection, and struggles are worth it. You will even see that the wicked and immoral people advance in life while you seem to be stagnant and simply unappreciated by anyone.

At times, you will want to give up and just ask God to stop testing you or putting you through further trials to exercise and strengthen your faith. Some of the greatest prophets in the Bible faced trials that pushed them to their limits to the point that they entered a depression and even contemplated suicide, even after they had done some of the greatest miracles ever seen by man.

But if you continue to hold on and just continue to be courageous to do what is right in the eyes of God, He will do a supernatural work in you and through you to help you succeed.
This is why God told Joshua several times to concentrate only on being strong a courageous to keep His commandments as it is not something that is easy to do. It takes courage and strength to follow Christ.

If you try it on your own, you will definitely fail and our carnal mind is an enemy of God and our fallen nature does not desire to obey Him. However, once Christ starts to live inside of you, He starts to miraculously bring about the changes needed for you to obey God’s commandments. He helps you to let go of those things, feelings, people, and desires that hold you back from living a righteous life.

Following Christ will cost you what He is worth, and He is worth everything you’ve got.

• Heavenly Father, You drew us with gentle cords with bands of love. I am poor and needy, yet my Lord thinks upon me. You are God who receives me.
• Forgive us for focusing on ourselves and our personal desires instead of focusing on Your divine purpose. Help us to see the great picture and not to compare ourselves with what others are doing.
• We ask for Your help as we continue to stay strong and go against the popular trend in modern society.
• We cancel right now any spirit of depression, or of suicide that is trying to bring us down and we receive the spirit of being a child of God.
• Teach us how to be strong and courageous to keep your commandments and not to lose our final goal, which is to bring glory to Your name with all we are and do, and to receive salvation.
• We declare we are blessed because we have endured temptation and we are receiving the crown of life.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
