First Hear His Voice

(Psalms 119:165) Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

(Proverbs 8:34-35) “Blessed is the person who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorways— because those who find me find life and gain favor from the LORD.” (It is the wisdom of God talking here).”

(John 16:13) “The Spirit shows what is true and will come and guide you into the full truth. The Spirit doesn’t speak on his own. He will tell you only what he has heard from me, and he will let you know what is going to happen.”

When you begin your day by first hearing what God has to say, none of the other voices will be able to affect you. God’s Word is Truth. Truth about you, about your loved ones, about your problems, and about your future. By making God and His Word the foundation upon which you plan your day, you indirectly put the burden on Him for all things to work out and show that you trust Him.

Think about it. The first thoughts that normally come to mind when you wake up, are all your problems. The first thing you hear in the news is disaster, corruption, and crime. And the devil is an expert on making sure that he starts to bombard you with lies so that everything and everyone irritates you. God’s truth will completely destroy all the lies anyone has spoken about you.

We are taught that if we love God’s word, that is, make it part of our daily life, then we will not be easily offended. Actually it says that by loving God’s laws, we shall not stumble or fall into sin. Getting offended and easily irritated will definitely cause you to sin.

By hearing God’s voice first, your attitude towards the day will change instantly as it will take away all fear, anger, and anxiety. You will no longer be preassured by what others demand from you or intimidated by their constant complaints. Your words, time, and money are seeds that are too precious to waste on those who don’t appreciate who you are in Christ.

In his book Secrets of the Journey, Dr. Mike Murdock says, “Hear the voice of God before you get your doctor’s report, for He’s your great physician. Hear His voice first, then the critical words of others will have little effect on you.”

If you find yourself getting easily irritated, it’s probably because you have not started the day by hearing God’s voice. If you have never heard God’s voice, then probably now is a good time to surrender completely to Christ.

Prayers

• Heavenly Father, You are He who makes His words fire. The word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth. Your commandment is exceedingly broad.
• Thank You, Father, that You have made Your wisdom available to anyone who asks.
• Thank You, that we can hear Your voice and receive the truth.
• Forgive us for not coming to you first in the day and sitting at Your feet.
• Forgive us for bending under the intimidation and pressure of others around us.
• Teach us how to first seek You and hold on to Your promises.
• We declare, that we will value who we are in Christ and no longer be pushed around by Satan.
• From this day forth, nothing and no one shall easily offend us and cause us to sin.
• Help us to hear Your voice more and more as we continue to seek you daily.
•
• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen
