(1Timothy 5:8)Â “If anyone does not take care of his own relatives, especially his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
(Matthew 6:31-32) “So don’t ever worry by saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ because it is the gentiles who are eager for all those things. Surely your heavenly Father knows that you need all of them!
(Read Genesis 13:1-22)
Â
By doubting God in any of His promises you are directly calling Him a liar. Sure, you might not get everything you ask for or even when you ask for it. This is where trust in God being God actually is exercised. If you put God in a box and limit Him by what you believe He should do or not do, then He is not truly your Master.
We have read that it is the unbelievers that live worrying about what will happen to them if they don’t have enough to eat or drink. God already said He would provide food and clothing for us. It might not be a T-Bone steak, caviar, and lobster, but it will be food. Â
Last year we lived in an apartment complex five steps from the beach and our neighbor was an elderly man who had been a fisherman all his life. We connected well with him and he did not stop bringing us fresh fish and octopus that we could normally not afford to eat in the restaurants right below our building.Â
A true follower of Christ will not worry about these things, but rather will worry about feeding his spirit and focusing on the things that pertain to the Kingdom of God. That means that all his efforts will be ordained by God. Abraham is our example of completely trusting God, facing troubles, and still keeping His faith that God would keep His promises of blessing him.
Being faithful to God does not mean that one should not work and provide for himself and his family, but you should not lose your sleep over it, nor make it a priority that will completely put the things of God aside in your life. The problem arises when you have no faith that God will provide if you make wrong decisions for a job, career, or even how to invest your time because of fear of lack.
Â
If you are walking correctly before God, He will make sure you will lack nothing and will use you as a testimony of how He provides for those that seek Him first.

• Father, we know that You are faithful to Your Word.
• Forgive us if we have not worked hard to provide for your family and our loved ones.
• Give us favor in order to be able to provide for them and be blameless before you and before man.
• Forgive us for spending all day worrying about things that You said You will provide for.
• We surrender all our anxiety today at your feet regarding our needs for today and tomorrow. Thank you for taking responsibility for our everyday needs.
