Hearing From God

(Matthew 11:15) “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

(Luke 24:45) “Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,”

(John 5:30) “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.”

(Proverbs 16:20) “Whoever listens to a word of instruction prospers, and anyone who trusts in the LORD is blessed.”

Have you heard anything from God lately? Do you even know that once you receive Jesus into your heart, you now have the ability to be in complete communion with God? That means, you can ask, and He will answer. You can just sit in His presence and the Holy Spirit will teach you all things concerning you and Christ.

The problem is that not everyone is seeking to hear from God as most people think they can function independently from Him. Jesus humbled Himself by putting aside His divine nature and becoming completely dependent on listening to what the Father revealed to Him. He did this on purpose to set an example for us of how we need to live.

There is a big difference between listening and hearing God. We all have to first learn to hear him, and then we need to listen to what we have heard. In other words, we have to obey and walk in the ways that have been instructed to us. This is only for our own safety and success in life.

How many times have we heard our parents repeat the same things over and over again, but we rarely listened? If you are a parent, eventually you will stop wasting your breath and avoid being ignored or even retaliated by your child. God works the same way. He will speak, warn, guide, and teach to those that humble themselves before Him by opening their ears.

(“Why is it that we can hear from God in times of crisis, yet not at other times? Because we have no other choice. Until that changes, we’ll keep living from crisis to crisis, we will never learn to hear from Him either quickly or correctly.”– Bob Gass)

God will reveal the hidden power and knowledge of the Kingdom of heaven to those that are willing to listen and obey.

Prayers

• Heavenly Father, in the day when I cried out, You answered me. You drew near on the day I called on You, and said, “Do not fear”. How precious are Your thoughts to me O God!
• I thank You for opening my ears to hear and understand Your word. Thank You for giving me the ability to receive from You instruction and guidance.
• We thank You that through the work of Jesus on the cross we can have a personal relationship with You.
• Forgive us for having ignored Your instructions and for not seeking to hear from You in every area of our lives. Forgive us for our rebellion against the authority above us that You have used in the past to speak to us.
• We want to love Your commandments and start to obey them.
• We declare that from this day forth our understanding has been opened and we will desire to obey all Your instructions.
• We receive right now the blessings and prosperity promised in Your word for having obeyed Your commandments.

• In Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
