(Proverbs 22:9) “Whoever is generous will be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.”
(Proverbs 11:25) “A generous person will prosper, and anyone who gives water will receive a flood in return.”
(2 Corinthians 9:7) “Each of you must give what you have decided in your heart, not with regret or under compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver.”
If you ask anyone with extraordinary wealth, how they got there, they will answer that one of the keys to achieving success is to be a generous giver. The greatest books that teach about how to become fruitful and prosperous define wealth as a pool of water. If you just let it sit there, it will rot and get full of fungus. It needs to circulate and be enjoyed by others, especially those in need. This concept of giving is very important to understand and God repeats it over and over again in His Word.
I´m not talking only about money when I refer to receiving a good harvest, but this also includes our time, love, talents, resources, connections, knowledge…etc. Everything we have is part of our wealth and gives us a good quality of life. Think about it, just because you have money, it does not guarantee a loving family, faithful friends, a long and healthy life, good moral values, and respect from your children.
Just because you have book knowledge, you don’t automatically have wisdom or understanding. There are thousands of people with artistic talent, but without the right connections, they will never be discovered.
God likes to show His power and glory through us and thus multiplies back to us a glass of water given to him, into a flood. When God gives back to us, it is overwhelming, beyond our expectations and it blesses those around us as well.
(“When you obey God today, you position yourself to receive something you’ll really need tomorrow! In 1 Kings 17, a widow gave the prophet Elijah a meal. She had no idea that a simple act of kindness would affect her future for the good. Elijah didn’t force her to give anything, and God won’t force you either.”
“With one small act of kindness, this woman started a harvest that lasted seven years. When her son died, it was the prophet she fed who brought him back to life. God will give you an opportunity to obey Him in something that may look insignificant, but the truth is, that seed will begin a harvest in your life.”) -Bob Gass
When you understand that the more you give, the more God will return to you, you will start to give with joy and expect your abundant Harvest.
