Measure Your Faith

(Luke 6:38)  “If you give to others, you will be given a full amount in return. It will be packed down, shaken together, and spilling over into your lap. The way you treat others is the way you will be treated.”

(Mark 10:29-30)  “Jesus told him: ‘You can be sure that anyone who gives up home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or land for me and for the good news will be rewarded. In this world they will be given a hundred times as many houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and pieces of land, though they will also be mistreated. And in the world to come, they will have eternal life.’”

Everything God gives us is supposed to multiply and increase along with our faith.  The more we read the Word of God, the more faith we will have on who He says He is. The more tests we face the more testimonies we will have of His faithfulness.  The more sheep we have to take care of, the more faith we will need to depend on Him in order to feed them.

God not only provides for us but also measures our faith by seeing how much of that we share with others. It is in our most difficult financial situations that our faith will be tested regarding tithes, offerings, and giving to the poor. Anyone can give out of their abundance, but to give in your time of need, knowing God will definitely continue to multiply what you give Him, takes a special kind of faith in God’s promises, God’s character, and God’s provision.

Another way that God uses to measure our faith is to see what all we can give up in order to continue to follow Christ and be used to spread the gospel. This includes having the approval of our family and friends or the obsessive pursuit of owning properties and a good bank balance for the future of our children.

Has God provided for you financially? Have you increased your giving back to Him in the same measure as you have received? Remember that whatever we give to Him is multiplied back to us. By this simple concept, we maybe start by giving him a teaspoon, as this might be all our faith allowed us to give.

However, if you have been giving faithfully and growing in your faith, by now you should have grown to be able to give a cup full, a bucket full, or even a truckload.  If not, then you are probably still struggling in your prayer life, in your ability to share the gospel, and in your spiritual authority over all.

Do you need a raise? How about giving God one first? It is your faith that will determine your divine provision.

  • Jesus, You are greater than the temple. The Lord is great in Zion.  He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world.
  • Thank You, Father, for the faith You have put inside of us.
  • Thank You that whatever we give up for You is returned to us one hundredfold.
  • Thank You that whatever we give to others, will also be multiplied and returned to us.
  • Forgive us for not having the faith to share what You have provided for us with others.
  • Forgive us for not giving up all things for the sake of the gospel.
  • We ask for the faith needed to give back to you more and more.
  • Teach us how to hold nothing back from you or from anyone in need.
  • We receive right now all that You have promised us in Your word because of our giving to You.
  • We ask in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen
