Our Ongoing Conflict

(Genesis 25:21-23) “Later, Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, since she was unable to conceive children, and the LORD responded to him—his wife Rebekah became pregnant. But when the infants kept on wrestling each other inside her womb, she asked herself, ‘Why is this happening?’”

“So she asked the LORD for an explanation. ‘Two nations are in your womb,’ the LORD responded, ‘and two separate people will emerge. One people will be the stronger, and the older one will serve the younger.’”

(Romans 7:21-23) “So I find this to be a principle: when I want to do what is good, evil is right there with me. For I delight in the Law of God in my inner being, but I see in my body a different principle waging war with the Law in my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin that exists in my body.”

Just like Rebekah, we too have two opposite natures struggling inside of us. The nature of the flesh and that of the spirit. It is entirely up to you which one will dominate your decisions, desires, and outcome in life. One will serve and submit to the other. God has not left us helpless in this struggle but His Word is full of warnings and strategies to be victorious over the temptation to sin. It’s high time we started to take our God-given authority and walk in holiness and do what is right.

The struggle will always be there but so will the victory if you hold on and choose God and His commandments. Even the Apostle Paul, admits to having this struggle with sin on a regular basis. The problem is not the struggle or the battle, or the challenge, the problem is when you think that you have no power over temptation.

The nature you feed is the one that will become stronger and the one you starve will slowly die. It’s that simple. God is not going to do it for you. No need for repeated deliverance, endless fasting, going from prayer meeting to prayer meeting…etc. Just by choosing God every time, eventually, you will no longer even remember the nature of the flesh and only desire the things of the Spirit.

Don’t ever say like the unbelievers do “Well, I´m only human”. Only human? Yes, Human but not an animal. You are God’s perfect creation made in His own image and likeness, loved, and empowered. Only those who have not understood what being one with Christ means, walk around being defeated by their fleshly desires. If you have not surrendered to Jesus Christ, you are still under slavery to the flesh.

Child of God! It’s time to stop feeling sorry for yourself and to stop giving in to the desires of the flesh. Get a hold of the Spirit of Jesus within you and get back to your calling.

• Heavenly Father, You stand at the right hand of the poor to save him from those who condemn him. You are He who lifts the needy out of the dust. You make the poor to sit with the princess of his people.
• Thank You that we are provided with everything we need to overcome the desires of the flesh.
• Thank You for giving us authority over sin, temptation, Satan, and any of his schemes.
• Forgive us for giving in to our flesh and blaming our situation, others, and You for our mistakes.
• Forgive us for not understanding the power there is in the name of Jesus against any desire of the flesh.
• We ask today that we will be bold enough to starve the desires of our flesh, and that tomorrow we will continue to do so until Christ returns.
• We declare that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
• We command every deceiving spirit that has a stronghold on our desires to leave right now.
• We surrender to the authority and power of Jesus Christ and decide to obey Him only as our Lord and Savior.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
