Skip the Middleman

(Isaiah 30:21-22) “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice saying, ‘This is the road! Now follow it.’ Then you will treat your idols of silver and gold like garbage; you will throw them away like filthy rags.”

(Exodus 20:18-19) “The people trembled with fear when they heard the thunder and the trumpet and saw the lightning and the smoke coming from the mountain. They stood a long way off and said to Moses, ‘If you speak to us, we will listen. But don’t let God speak to us, or we will die!’”

God normally uses middlemen to first reach out to you, but once you become His child through Jesus, you do not need to completely depend on them. The worst thing you can do is to continue to depend on these middlemen instead of directly going to your Heavenly Father. God is not complicated nor does He require you first to be a saint in order to be with Him.

These middlemen can be pastors, books, counselors, parents, nature itself, or even other brothers and sisters of the faith. God will use any means possible to wake you up and make you realize that He exists and that you are nothing without Him. However, once you are spiritually awakened, cleansed from your sins through the blood of Jesus, and baptized into His family, God requires you to learn to depend on the Holy Spirit who will teach you all things.

Many walk their spiritual walk depending on priests, gurus, or spiritual leaders and ignore or just don’t understand the love of our Creator. The beauty of the Cristian walk is that we don’t need anyone else in order to communicate with God. His written Word speaks to us and will answer most of our questions. His Holy Spirit will guide us and convict us of any sin that we might commit. And Christ will come and live inside of us and make us overcome any obstacle.

Once you experience the way God speaks to you, you will never go back to religious activities with no purpose, idol worship, praising a preacher or a guru, and you will be able to understand the secrets of
God’s Kingdom. God does not need an interpreter to speak to you, nor does He need anyone to pray on your behalf. All these extra things are only needed because of our lack of desire to directly connect with Him or a fear of facing Him.

Those that stop you from hearing God directly don’t represent the God of the Bible but are practicing occultism. They want you to depend on them for your spiritual awakening and don’t represent the God of Truth.

If you only depend on others to hear from God, you will never take what you hear seriously enough to make a real change in your life.

Prayers

• Heavenly Father, You are the Lord who binds up the bruise of His people and heals the stroke of their wound. You take pleasure in Your people. You have exalted the horn of Your people.
• Thank You, Father, that we don’t need any middlemen to communicate with you.
• Thank You that if we confess our sins personally to You and repent, You will forgive us.
• Thank You that through Jesus we have direct access to your presence.
• Forgive us for making gods out of nature, other men, or religious traditions.
• We ask that we will learn to hear Your voice and that we will understand the things You teach us.
• May we hear the guiding voice that will direct our paths and teach us Your ways.
• Let us not be like those that fear to communicate with You and do not understand Your love.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
