The Closet Period

(Psalms 1:2-3) “But he delights in the LORD’s instruction, and meditates in his instruction day and night. He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in its season, and whose leaf does not wither. He will prosper in everything he does.”

(Matthew 6:6) “But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father who is hidden. And your Father who sees from the hidden place will reward you.”

Just like nature, God makes us experience different seasons in life. A time to abundantly prosper and a time to save for a rainy season. A time to splurge on vacations, gifts, and dining out, and a time to only eat at home and watch TV.

By spending money without fear of not having it for the future, we show God that we trust that He will continue to provide as He always has. By not buying something when He stops us, and either save it or bless someone with that money, we show Him that He is once again our provider. No matter what His instructions are, we have to be vigilant to be able to hear them.

Probably the most important season is when we are ordered by God to spend time hidden in the prayer closet, where He gives us clear instructions for the next step in our lives. It is a time when we cut off from every extra activity, every TV show, or even every person that might distract us from what God wants to show us. This closet period might be one day, one week, one month, or even longer.

The longest I have heard is from a woman of prayer that spent 7 months confined in her home not allowed by God to see or talk to anyone face to face while she prayed for the deliverance of her future husband. She came out victorious, soon after to get married and they are both now in full-time ministry.

If you are right now stopped at a red light, learn to relax knowing that it will soon change to green and you will be able to move forward toward your destiny. Only when God gives you the green light will you be able to succeed in what you are doing. It will be evident because where you have failed in the past will now bring profit.

You can pray, declare, command, and fast all you want, but if you are not obedient to God’s timing, you will not be able to enjoy the fruits God has ordained for you.  Wait for God’s timing and learn to just be with Jesus and enjoy His presence.

Unless God does a supernatural miracle, fruits will not grow outside their designated season.  Maybe it’s time you entered a closet period.

Prayers

• Heavenly Father, You bless the poor, deliver him in the time of trouble, preserve him, keep him alive, will not deliver him to the will of enemies and strengthen him and sustain him on his sickbed.
• Thank You that everything has a season and there is order in all of Your creation.
• Thank You that you allow us to go through different seasons so we can be fruitful at the right time and with the right purpose.
• Forgive us for trying to move faster than Your divine timing or for not having the patience to wait for Your instructions.
• We declare that because we meditate on Your Word day and night, we will be planted by streams of water and bear fruit in the right season. That our leaves will no longer wither and we will prosper in all we do.
• Give us the opportunity to enter the closet period and instruct us how to put all things in place in the Spiritual.

• We ask in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
