The Peace Test

(Psalms 3:2-4) “Many are saying about me, ‘God will never deliver him!’ … But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. I cry aloud to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Interlude…”

(Colossians 3:15) “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”

Having peace in our hearts is a promise for everyone that has accepted Christ. Many believe that we have to feel peace first about a situation and then move forward with our decision. If you are walking correctly in God’s will, that peace will always be there. However, the moment you take a wrong step, make a wrong decision, speak the wrong words, watch or listen to the wrong thing… that peace will be gone.

Giving ear to the wrong people can also make you lose your peace. They might be always stating the obstacles, the negative outcomes if you fail, the obvious handicap you might have, or simply be jealous of your desire to succeed. Just because they say these things, don’t give up. God will hear your cry for help and teach you how to conquer every obstacle. Don’t lose your peace, your faith, and especially the promises God has given to you just because someone does not share the vision you have.

Christ promises us a peace that goes beyond our understanding, that is, there is no logic to why we can be at peace when everything around us is crumbling.

(“The question you must answer today is, have you heard clearly from God? Are you doing what He told you? Or are you trying to convince Him that He should bless what you are trying to accomplish? What you really need to do is spend time in prayer asking God to reveal His purpose. When you do what God has commanded, you’ll be blessed because God’s plan is already blessed.”
“All of us go through times of frustration. We struggle with ideas that are born of our own will instead of God’s. But we soon learn that God won’t be manipulated. If He said it, that settles it! He knows what is best for you. Get into His presence and talk it over with Him.” – Bob Gass)

You have to decide today if you will depend on the temporary peace the World offers or the one the Word of God promises to every disciple of Jesus Christ.
